CC3220: Questions before Selection

Hello there,

I have a customer who is thinking about working the CC3220SF into their design but wanted to ask the following before doing so--

If they were to decide to use a TI-RTOS ecosystem for development with the CC3220, how much memory would that take up on the device? Same question for Free-RTOS?
What is the nominal start-up time for RAM & Flash within the CC3220?
The customer has run into previous issues on a different platform (TM4C) where UART serial characters being duplicated when using Deep Sleep mode and DMA. They would like to know if the DMA architecture from the TM4C was possibly utilized in the CC3220SF (or anything from the SimpleLink family for that matter) or if it is formatted differently? I understand this may be difficult for your team to comment on as you do not specifically support TM4C but I wanted to ask the question anyways.

1. The TI-RTOS takes up 19.6kB of Flash and 37.9kB of the SRAM. The Free-RTOS takes up 19.9kB of Flash and 38.1kB of the SRAM.

2. This will vary depending on the image size. Refer to Table 4-4 or 4-5 on pages 35 and 36 from the CC3220 datasheet.

I was told that the DMA architecture of the TM4C was also utilized in the CC3220SF. The UART issue with the TM4C has been a known issue and there has been a workaround for it. Let me know if you would like more details.

Seong, Thanks so much for such quick and detailed replies. I assume this means the DMA architecture from the TM4C is the same in all CC32XX devices across the board (not only just the CC3220SF)?

Sorry but I have misinformed you about the DMA architecture in the CC3220. The DMA architecture is the same in the CC3200. I would assume that it would also be the same in the CC3220, but to be absolutely sure, I have relayed this query to someone at R&D. I will get back to you as soon as I find out.
