Hi,

Is it possible to use the Segger J-link I to program the external flash chip (MX25R3235FM1IL0) on the CC3220S-LAUNCHXL? If so, is there an off-the-shelf adapter I can purchase to connect the J-Link to the board with the right pin out? I was looking at the Tag-Connect, TC2050-ARM2010 but it seems the pins don't match.

If the Segger J-Link cannot program the external flash, can you recommend a device that can be used to program the external flash?

We don't have an official list of devices for programming the external flash. However, we have used the Totalphase Cheetah for programming the external flash.

Hi Austin,
What cable adapter do you use with the Cheetah? The pinout on the CC3220S-Launchpad board doesn't seem to match the Cheetah pin out:

Cheetah:
Pin 1: SS2
Pin 2: GND
Pin 3: SS3
Pin 4: NC/+5V
Pin 5: MISO
Pin 6: NC/+5V
Pin 7: SCLK
Pin 8: MOSI
Pin 9: SS1
Pin 10: GND

Launchpad:
Pin 1: GND
Pin 2: CC_nReset
Pin 3: NC
Pin 4: NC
Pin 5: NC
Pin 6: SFL_DIN (MISO)
Pin 7: SFL_DOUT (MOSI)
Pin 8: SFL_CLK(SCLK)
Pin 9: GND
Pin 10: SFL_CS(SS)

I have been using a J-Flash Plus for SPI programming on a product board, so I would expect it could work for you as well. However, i don't see that exact Macronix P/N on www.segger.com/.../, so you may need to investigate further.

The J-Flash Base is not licensed for the J-Flash SPI tool as per www.segger.com/.../ . I'm not sure on the adapter you might need. Make sure whatever is normally connected to the SPI tri-states (or perhaps enters reset) so your programmer can take full control of the memory.
