Hello,
I am currently working on a new design using the CC3220S.
One of the tasks I wish to implement is to measure sound volume levels of a single MEMS microphone.
The CC3220S datasheet documents there is a I2S peripheral interface,
and I was wondering if it can be used to interface with for instance a ICS-43434.
Which pins of the McASP/I2S pins should be connected ?
Are there some examples available ?

I also have a CC3220S-LAUNCHXL board which I would like use for testing...

Hi Salvatore,

There is no driver for handling data from a digital microphone in the SDK. However, the interface should be compatible. Refer to the CC3220 Technical Reference Manual for details on the I2S peripheral.

Based on the ICS-43434 datasheet, you should only need the following connections from the CC3220 to the microphone.

CC3220	ICS-43434
BCLK (McACLK)	SCK
FS (McAFS)	WS
DIN (McAR0)	SD

Hi Ben,

could you please elaborate what you meant in your statement regarding the lack of a driver ? I suppose you meant a driver to "handle" data read from the I2S interface ?

Am I correct to state that the I2S API available in the SDK can be used to read chunks of data ? (of course to initialize the I2S etc)

Hi Salvatore,

That is exactly what I mean. There is a driver for reading data in from the I2S interface. Please use this as a reference.
However, there is not a specific digital mic driver for handling the data once it is read in as there is for the CC26xx device.
