WL1837MOD: MSL concerns and cleaning procedure

Part Number: WL1837MOD

Hi,

We have quite a few board that have a the WL1837MOD device fitted. Approximately 1/3 of our boards are showing consistent connection errors. The boards that don't show these errors are rock solid and work very well.

I am aware that these units are MSL 3 devices. The units have not been rebaked before soldering but, as far as I know, the devices have been fitted in compliance with the MSL 3 guide lines.

The moisture exposure is still a concern but, in order to exclude other possibilities, I was wondering if the cleaning procedure could have adverse some effects on the performance of these LGAs. We use Kolb MultiEx VR SP detergent.

I was also interested if somebody else has had a similar experience with these devices.

Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

David
