CCS/CC3200-LAUNCHXL: Provisioning_wps tool found in the CC3200SDK 1.2 is not working

I cannot get this program to run off the the launchpad. I followed the Getting Started Guide for the launchpad, and CCS says the program was flashed correctly, but the device will not connect to my router and there is nothing coming out of Tera term. I also programmed the board with the provisioning_wps.bin file in the SDK with CCS UniFlash, but that did not work either. To troubleshoot, I programmed the device with blinky.bin (also found in the SDK) via UniFlash and it is working properly.

I am currently using CCS 6.2.0 for this project, and I do not see how using 7.3 would make any difference.

What could I be doing wrong? Is there somewhere I can troubleshoot this with Tera term not working?

Hi Brett,

have you tried loading a wlan_station? This should definitely produce output on the console by default.

I had tried it before, but I was unable to load wlan_station while tera term was running. However, I just programmed it with wlan_station, then connected to the board with tera term. When I either resume or stop the debugging session, I get the following readout:

After letting it sit for awhile, the program times out and gives me this:

I set the router to open security, and the board is about 5ft from the router, so the connection shouldn't be a non-issue. I also just re-tried this method of programming before connecting with tera term using the wps provisioning, but tera term still isn't outputting anything.

Not sure if this is applicable, as the board I am using is Rev 4.1 and is not marked with XCC3200HZ.

I have been using the CC2300SDK_1.2.0. Are you refering to a different service pack on the launchpad? If so, how would I determine its version? I did a List File System in UniFlash but nothing came up regarding a service pack.

Hi,

ServicePack is a software patch for firmware into network processor inside CC3200. ServicePack need to be uploaded by Uniflash software into CC3200. It is strongly recommended to have updated your CC3200 by latest Service Pack.

Service pack version can be read by SimpleLink API - see API sl_DevGet().

Thanks, this worked. Initially, the WpsConnectPushButton part connected but the WpsConnectPinCode wasn't working. However, I changed the pin in the code to 11223344 and got it to work.
