I'm working on designing a small low power "beacon" to emit a wifi signal at 2.4GHz with an SSID. The beacon doesn't need to transfer any data or communicate with any other device. Our application simple needs a receiver, mobile device, to identify the beacon's SSID and measure the wifi's signal strength being emitted from the beacon. On a large scale we're trying to track the beacon by using mulitlatreration and a large number of signal strengths measured from users phones in the vicinity.
Does the CC3200 have the capability to emit a wifi signal with an SSID at 2.4GHz?
If so, does anyone know the general distance the signal can radiate in open space?
Does anyone have any design recommendations for what we're trying to do?
