Hi,

I have a CC3200 with ServicePack_1.0.1.6-2.7.0.0 running on it. The CC3200 is connected in STA mode to my AP. Auto-Reconnect is enabled on the CC3200. I am running an application using TI-RTOS.

I get random disconnects from my wifi-router.

The CC3200 states reason code 6 which translates to: SL_CLASS_2_FRAME_RECEIVED_FROM_NONAUTHENTICATED_STATION

I ran a wireshark sniff on the wifi protocol, please see the attached. There you can see several disconnects, on at 14:44:08 CET and following.

The CC3200 is in good reach to the AP and not moving. The wifi has very few traffic/clients only.

It would be great if someone could have a look at the sniffer-logs to give a hint what could cause the seen behaviour.

Hello,

The servicepack you are using is quite old.

Can you upgrade to the latest 2.9.0.0 first?

Also, have you tried with other APs as well? what AP are you using?

Lastly, is it happening on your custom board or with cc3200 launchpad?

Dear Shlomi,

I updated the Service Pack to the latest (2.9.0.0) now but I still see the issue.

It seems as if my router:

Reason code: Class 3 frame received from nonassociated STA (0x0007)

Please see further details in wireshark logs attached. At Nov 30, 2017 15:52:48.752482000 CET you see the disconnect.

I am using a CC3200 module on a custom board.

To add:
I am using a AVM FritzBox 7490. Its a very commonly used router, at least in Germany. I do have an Apple Extreme at hand. Does it make sense to test it with the other AP?

With the E2E link I provided, you can see that the Fritzbox was misbehaving in regards to the power save policy.

As a 2nd test, please try to work in ALWAYS_ON mode and see if it makes any difference.

To work in ALWAYS_ON, please use: sl_WlanPolicySet(SL_POLICY_PM , SL_ALWAYS_ON_POLICY, NULL,0).

Dear Shlomi,
Ok, I will try the ALWAYS_ON mode and let you know in the coming days.
At first look, the problem does not seem to occur on the Airport Extreme, but I only had a chance to let it run for a short period.

Dear Shlomi,

Quick Update: I implemented the ALWAYS_ON mode and this seems to solve the issue. Since a few hours there was no re-connect.

Did you ran any further tests in regards to this issue in normal power mode?

I also placed a support ticket with AVM (fritzbox) to see what they say.

As said, the firtzbox is a very common router at least in Germany so it is important to get this stabalized for our customers.

Hi Shlomi,

Are you based in the US?

This case you could get it from Amazon.

Yes, the Fritzbox has some packet capture functionalities for the air interface.

Although currently I did not yet find out how to see also the wifi's Beacon packages. They seem to be filtered but I guess that this can be figured out. The captures that I uploaded in this thread were captured with the fritzbox.

Hi Henry,

This is a known issue, which AVM will have a fix for soon. Please keep an eye on for their next beta update. In the mean time, as Shlomi suggests, please use ALWAYS_ON with this AP if these disconnects are critical for your application.
