Part Number: WL1835MOD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352
Tool/software: Linux
Team,
I am working with a customer who is attempting to apply the WiLink8 patches and integrate to their production application code on the AM3352 platform with WL1835MOD.
I think we are clear on the necessary update to the wilink firmware file however there are some questions regarding the userspace aspects.
The product build is using u-boot/kernel from SDK 4.0,however the distro build is still that from 3.2, and the hostap-daemon-wl18xx in that is R8.6 which is based on the 2.4 version. They have tried building an Arago in SDK 4.1 and it looks like it is still using R8.6 (i.e. 2.4). They noticed the patch sets supplied for hostap are against either the 2.5 or 2.6 versions!
The customer has checked out the source from git://git.ti.com/wilink8-wlan/hostap.git and I can potentially build a more recent hostap/wpa_supplicant from the R8.7_SP3 tag (which should give all the patches?) - so it looks like what is needed is to completely override the build recipe for wlan-daemon-wl18xx to get a fixed version in their standard distro build.
Can you see any problem with moving just hostap forward in those builds? What is the recommended way forward for easiest path to ongoing SDK support?
Regards,
Garry
