Hi,

I had recently received a suggestion to set my C3220SF board to Development mode. On using Uniflash, the program automatically detects that I've connected the board but when trying to click 'Connect.

I get the following error as shown below. Hope you could help me fix this.

Hi Geeve,

To be able connect by Uniflash your CC3220 need to be in bootloader mode. This can be done by jumper SOP2.

Hey Jan,

What would I have to do? I didn't quiet understand " This can be done by jumper SOP2." I had earlier connected SOP2 to J3 , But I guess that's not necessary for the CC3220SF and is only needed for the CC3200. What connections would I have to make? Thank you.

Hi,

This is same for CC3220 and CC3200. You need close SOP2 jumper before connecting by Uniflash.

Hi Jan,

I connected a Jumper from SOP2 to J3 (which is behind TCK) and then tried to click Connect.But, I'm still getting the same error.I've attached an image of the Jumper Connection I made. Hope you could look into this. I also tried to connect from SOP2 to TCK(which is in front of J3 label) as well just in case , but in both cases I get the same error.

Hi,

No. Just only insert jumper to SOP2 (disconnect jumper from SOP0 and connect it to SOP2).

Hey Jan,

I guess it might be because of the angle from which I took the image it looks like I made the connection to SOP0. But, I've connected to SOP2 and J3 . I've doodled the connection I made to an image of CC3220SF , hope you could check it and let me know if the connection I made is correct.Thank you for your time.

Hi,

I don't understand why you connection SOP2 pin to TCK (line for JTAG). Also you have connected SOP0 pin to VCC (VCC_BRD).

Please remove wire connected to TCK. Remove jumper from SOP0 and move it to SOP2. You need connect your SOP2 pin to VCC.

Hi Jan,

I connected SOP2 to TCK as I saw it in Energia CC3200 guide.http://energia.nu/cc3200guide/

I removed the jumper wire from (SOP2 to TCK) and moved the Jumper from SOP0 to SOP2. Is the connections ok now? If, they are ok then I will proceed to try Uniflash.

Hi,

Your jumpers at RX and TX are at wrong position. You have connected RX, TX to header not to the UART at XDS110. Also again connect RST and other JTAG jumpers (TMS, TCK, TDI).

Hi Geeve,

Jan is correct. The connection recommended by the Energia guide is specific to using Energia and is a bit of a hack. You should use the configuration recommended in Figure 9 of the Out of Box Guide:

Hi Jan,

I have connected the sop2 pin and removed sop1 and sop0 jumper as you said. But Iam still getting the same error while using uniflash

Operation failed: Timeout reading data

Please help me, I am stuck for 2 days

I had the same issue with a CC3200SF Rev.B and Uniflash 4.2.2 on macOS. SOP2 did nothing.

The solution was to

Unplug everything,
Reboot the PC,
Start again with SOP1,
Plug the CC3200SF,
Launch UniFlash 4.2.2,
Create a new project (as using a previously created project doesn't work),
Set Device Type to CC3200SF,
Press Connect,
Press Create and Program image, and
Repeat this process twice or thrice until it works.

Repeat the whole process for each CC3220SF board. Surprisingly, calling a previously created project doesn't work. It needs to be create from scratch each time.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing your experiences with this issue.

I think problems with pre-production CC3220 LaunchPad (rev.B) are not related to production boards (Rev.A). At my Rev.B board I had some problems including soldering problems (short at JTAG in/out connectors, wrongly populated capacitors and diodes, etc.).

At this particular case ( e2e.ti.com/.../2494430 ) was not functional UART from XDS-110. This thing cannot be affected by SOP configuration.

I'm always confused with Rev.B = pre-release and Rev.A = production.

I haven't tried yet on the CC3220SF Rev.A board I have.

I don't know about any. I mean thread where do you writing similar things. But if you have really good ideas related to SimpleLink WiFi you should write it directly to the Josh from App Team.
