CC3220: Flash usage

Hello!

My cc3220 device switches between AP/STA/Promiscuous modes frequently (every minute).

I know, that NWP and SDK uses Serial flash, that have only 100K erase cycles.

1. How can i determine then this 100K cycles expired and my device become broken?

2. Which functions from SDK uses FlashErase then i call it?

Hi,

Information which APIs writes into sFlash you find at www.ti.com/.../getliterature.tsp at Appendix B. APIs described as "Nonpersistent" are not rewriting sFLash.

In your application you should disable system persistence by sl_DeviceSet(SL_DEVICE_GENERAL_PERSISTENT, ...). Please see SWRU455 at chapter 2.12.

Hello! Thank you for a quick answer!
I examined Appendix B and found that sl_WlanSetMode() marked as "Reset" (it's writes to flash even if system persistence is disabled).
So, every time, then i change Wlan Mode, flash is erased. Can i avoid it?

Hi,

I suppose so. When API needs to proper function NWP reset, than flash write need to be done. This is only way how this information can persist reset.

I am not aware of any way how avoid this write into flash. Maybe TIs could have any idea.

Hi Rustem,

For switching roles between station and AP, there is no way to avoid this write to serial flash.
