CC3220: RSA data signing on the CC3220

Hi,

I would need to sign a chunk of data with a RSA key. Based on a search in C32xx support libraries and forums that is not supported, right? However, RSA is supported for SSL. What is the reason RSA module cannot be used for general purposes (e.g. signing)?

Hi,

Please see Crypto Utilities for CC3220 at www.ti.com/.../getliterature.tsp chapter 15. You can sign buffer using ECDSA.

Hi Jan,

In this particular case, the key is generated by a third party which is unfortunately a RSA key. The crypto utilities require ECC (SECP256R1) type of key.

Ideally, I would prefer to use existing RSA utilities but, I guess, these are unfortunately not exposed for direct usage.

Hi Marjan,

Yes, you are correct that the Crypto Utilities in CC3220 are currently limited to ECC (SECP256R1). RSA is not supported (not due to a hardware limitation), but because it has not been exposed to the user as a service from the network processor.
