WL1837MOD: Power &thermal dissipation clarification in thermal constraint environnment

Hi, a customer is validating teh use of WL1837MOD in a thermal constraint environnment.

So knowledge of the Power dissipation is important : thanks to clarify the values that can be used for his modeling .

Using Ref Manual :

  • It says for 1.8V (IOs) it is 200 mA   , so it is = 1.8*0.2 = 0.36W
  • For Vbat it is 3.3V, from the datasheet it says.

For Transmission, at worst case it is 510mA, which is = 3.3*0.51 = 1.68W.

So, if we leave the caliberation, so the total power is = 1.68+0.36  = 2.04W. - what is the thermal disspation of the module ?

For Bluetooh, as per the datasheet, it is 50mA, = 3.3*0.05 = 0.165W

So, as we have Wifi+BT will be used simultaneously, what we should consider

Is it : Wifi+BT = 2.04W (Internal switching)

         Or Wifi +BT = 2.04+0.165 = 2.205Watts.

Please let us know, what we need to consider, for power estimation and power dissipation and this is very much needed for our project

Thanks

Nicolas
