I tried to understand what Bluetooth BTS files doing and how they are built, formatting din't find it.

Someone can help me to give me more information or indicate where I can get it.

  • Hi,

BTS is an abbreviation for Bluetooth script. The BTS file is a binary file that contains commands and actions for Texas Instruments Bluetooth devices. The BTS files for CC256x, WL12xx and WL18xx are service-packs for the Bluetooth controllers that serve 2 main purposes.
    1. Initialize the firmware inside the Bluetooth controller and enable specified features (BLE or assisted mode) when the add-on BTS scripts are loaded to the controller.
    2. The BTS files contain bug fixes to the known issues. So it is always recommended to use the latest official release of the BTS service-pack.

You can find the WL12xx BTS files at the following git.
    git.ti.com/.../master

That being said, please note that the WL127x is a pretty old device. If your application requirements allow, it is better to move to the latest WL183x device families (e.g. WL1831MOD)

    Best regards,

  • Hello Vihang,

    Thank you to reply me!!

I see that the WL183x has more support and more technical information, but unfortunately I can not migrate to this new technology. I have to work with WL1271.

The other limitation I have is lack of space and I tried using BlueZ as Bluetooth Stack, but unfortunately it takes up a lot of space.

My goal is to use BLE with GATT profile with the "lighter" or "raw" possible bluethoot stack add-on that does not occupy much space.

I found the "TI-BT-4-2-STACK-LINUX-ADDON" but I have difficulty loading the BTS file (WL1271) because the examples are for the WL18x.
Unfortunately I do not have much experience, I need some basic tips like "For dummies explanation".

    Can you help me? :)

    Regards,
