CC3200: It can provide some data of low power consumption of CC33200

Part Number: CC3200

My client company is evaluating the selection of low-power wifi chips these days,

hoping that TI can provide some technical information about the advantages of CC3200 compared with other manufacturers in terms of low power consumption.

Can you give me some references?

thank you!

  • Hi,

TI SimpleLink WiFi chips are one of best low power chips on the market. At the market are available WiFi solution with even lower power consumption. But this chips have lower performance (lower processing power, lower RF performance). SimpleLink WiFi devices have good tradeoff between power consumption and performance.

Good example of usage CC3200 are Saveris 2 devices from Testo company ( www.testo.com/.../ ). Typical values 12 moths at 4x AA are real values with sending interval 15min. (note: I am not working for Testo, Testo is ours competitor actually).

Application notes related to power consumption:
    - CC3200: www.ti.com/.../swra462.pdf
    - CC3220: www.ti.com/.../swra502b.pdf

For new design is recommended to select CC3220 devices. These new devices have even slightly lower power consumption than CC3200.
