CC3220: CC3120 Support for web content/pages in gz/gzip format..

Part Number: CC3220

Hello Team CC3220,

My customer is asking the following..

"..modern websites use the content-encoding format as gzip which provides size efficiency.  When a request is made by a browser for a page from our site the webserver returns the smaller compressed file (gzip format) if the browser indicates that it understands this compression format. All modern browsers understand and accept compressed files.  Compression of the HTML and CSS files with gzip typically saves the file size. This means that it takes less time to load the pages, and less bandwidth is used over all."

Does the web server built into the CC3220//C3120 network processor support the gz/gzip content format?

I see a similar recent question/post on here..

http://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless_connectivity/simplelink_wifi_cc31xx_cc32xx/f/968/t/677153 w/ similar question as follows..

"How to set Encoding Type for HTTP GET Request: We are unable to find any api to set its content encoding to gzip format. Use case is we have webpages in compressed form & we want browser to extract that when we hit IP address in browser, browser unable to load this webpage however if we include webpages in extracted form from uniflash 4.2 then it is working fine for us. IS there is any way to load webpages in gz or gzip formats?"

Thanks, Merril
