CCS/CC3220SF-LAUNCHXL: Bin file for Gang image creation using slimagecreator

Part Number: CC3220SF-LAUNCHXL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, CC3200

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I am trying to create a bin file to use for gang programming.  I am able to create a .sli file and program it with the following command:

//create
C:/ti/uniflash_4.2.2/dslite.bat --mode cc3220 project create_image --name name_of_project --file %CD%/image.sli --project_path %CD%/projects

//program
C:/ti/uniflash_4.2.2/dslite.bat --mode cc3220 image program --file %CD%/image.sli --port COM6

When I use the --bin_file flag I get an error.  "error: unrecognized arguments: --bin_file" .  I found this flag in uniflash guide: swru469c on page 29 under "Create image from project".

Below is the command I tried to use to create a bin file.

C:/ti/uniflash_4.2.2/dslite.bat --mode cc3220 project create_image --name name_of_project --bin_file %CD%/image.bin --project_path %CD%/projects

  • Hi Kevin,

Can you try just using the "--file" flag for your .bin file?

    Best regards,
    Kristen
  • Thanks,

I used the below command for the bin file:

    C:/ti/uniflash_4.2.2/dslite.bat --mode cc3220 project create_image --name project_name --file %CD%/image.bin --project_path %CD%\projects

and it didn't boot when I wrote it to our flash part.  (Via external flash programmer)

When I create a SLI image, using:

    C:/ti/uniflash_4.2.2/dslite.bat --mode cc3220 project create_image --name project_name --file %CD%/image.sli --project_path %CD%\projects

and then use  "image program --file %CD%/image.sli"  to program.  That works but like I mentioned, I am trying to create a gang image so I can program flash parts using a flash programmer.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

  • Hi,

Is there an answer?  I am still unable to create a gang image that I can program.  Like I said above, I am able to program with the "image program" command.  Is it possible to take that image file used there and modify it so that it can be used for gang programming.

    Thanks

    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

Have you tried using the GUI interface of Uniflash to create the bin image?
  • Kristen,

So, it turns out that all file types are outputted when I use the create_image command.  I wasn't paying attention to what was being outputted.  I did take the .bin and programmed the image.  It didn't boot.  I took the .sli image and programmed it via uniflash and that booted.

So I am trying to figure out whats different.  I used the same external flash programming steps I used for cc3200.  It worked for cc3200 but not cc3220.

    Thanks

    Kevin

  • Kristen,

Figured it out. I needed to wait about 20 seconds for the gang image to get verified before it booted. The SLI image booted faster because it doesn't go through that process.

    Thanks
    Kevin
