CC3220MODA: Flash programming

Hi

I want to confirm UART programming.

According to SWRA568, UART programming – A PC-based utility or embedded device can be used for indirectly programming the serial flash through UART.

1.

In PC-based utility (Uniflash) for UART programming, is the blank check executed?

2.

Is the serial flash erased before programming?

3.

I think serial flash programming would require "Blank check, if not blank -> erase -> programming->veirfy".

Is it required?

BestRegards

  • Hi na na78,

    1. Can you explain what you mean by "blank check"? If you mean whether UniFlash ImageCreator checks if the serial flash is empty, no it does not.
    2. UniFlash ImageCreator version 4 (for CC3220 devices) does format the serial flash before programming. This was not the case on Gen 1 devices. A generic UART programmer (used for flashing a gang image for production) would not erase the serial flash for you before programming.
    3. UniFlash mageCreator handles this for you on CC3220 devices. Again, this is not the case for other UART programmers.

    Best regards,
    Sarah
