CC3120: Connect CC3120 to MSP430FR4133

Hi.

I have this problem. I have to connect the CC3120 with the MSP430FR4133 microcontroller.
It's possible? If so, what are the pins of the CC3120 to be used?

Hi Davide,

MSP430FR4133 does not have sufficient resources (memory) to be used with CC3120.

Jan was referring to the MCU choice. In the CC3100 SDK, the MSP430FR5969 is a platform supported. This device has 64kB of FRAM and 2kB of SRAM.

The MSP430FR4133, in contrast has 16kB of FRAM and 2kB of SRAM. The CC3100 or CC3120 could be used with the -FR5969.

also, it depends on your use case, as i have seen folks use the smaller MCUs with transceiver use case, devices like the MSP430FR4133 or MSP430G2955 should do OK if you are trying to address that application.

i think the consensus here is that this device is resource limited for that application use case.
would suggest using a larger one, like the MSP430FR5969, or similar.

further - in what context are you using the system as an access point? - this is limited on the CC3xxx devices - its not meant to be an AP/Router like what is seen in the home or office

Dear Josh,
thank you for your precious answer.

Through a SIM Card module in the system, I would like to be able to use the CC3120 as an access point by taking the Internet connection via the mobile data plan of the SIM Card.

the CC3xxx devices are not capable of dual role - so if your intent is to create some sort of hotspot, this is not possible. The WL18xx + Sitara MPU devices would be a better fit in that use case.

The Sitara Microprocessor (MPU) will take the place of Microcontroller (MCU)

This puts me in trouble because I need to control pulse M-Bus, an LCD display, motor driver DRV8837, a HDC1080, a SIM Card.
I have to redo the whole project then. What do you think about it?
