If i use CC3220MODASF in my design, how to integrate UFL antenna directly, can we directly solder it on module (on the exposed golden part in middle of green one) to use it?

I have a doubt regarding it's use.

Hi,

No you cannot solder uFL antenna directly to the module. In case you need to use external antenna you need to use CC3220MODSF (module without integrated antenna) and assembly uFL connector on your PCB.

Ankur,

No, the exposed copper is not a provision for RF components. For CC3220MODAx devices, the RF signal is directly routed from the integrated CC3220x's RF pin to the PCB antenna so there's really no way to add a UFL connector.

If you require a UFL connector in your design, you can switch to the CC3220MODx (non-antenna module) devices. The trade-off here is that you'll need a chip antenna for wireless TX/RX.

Ankur,

You can expect power to decrease by at least a dB when using a UFL over 2.4 band.
