  • It is true we are not certifying the device for the full list of countries.
We run the main certifications as mentioned.

However, almost all other countries follow the main 3 regulations: ETSI, FCC, TELEC and run almost identical tests.
So, while certifying the 3 main ones, we cover most of the tests of the rest of the countries.

I believe this is also the method in the industry and we got no complaint on it from customers so far.

    Best Regards,
    Eyal
  • Hi Eyal,

Thanks for your timely response because we are urgently requiring additional certifications for:
    - Mexico (IFETEL)
    - Argentina (ENACOM)
    - Brazil (ANATEL)
    - (Australia will take the existing reports as you indicate).

TUV SUD has indicated to us:
    - Mexico (IFETEL)
    - Argentina (ENACOM)
    - Brazil (ANATEL)
require in country testing at $14,000CDN each.
Each of these Certifications will be in the manufacturers name (Texas Instruments).
Does TI sell the WL1835MOD in any of these countries and already have these certifications?
We think of TI as a global company and chose the WL1835MOD with global expectations.

Please call me so we can discuss possible solutions.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Tom,

I am not an expert of our (TI) module certification policy in other countries than those listed in our certification documents.
I am assigning this to our hardware expert and our marketing manager that may have a better answer for you.

    Best Regards,
    Eyal
  • Hi Tom,

For the regions of certification that we do not have certifications for, we can help to support certification. Note that there are normally 2 paths for certification. One is at the product level and one is at the module level. Customers should perform certification at the product level and TI can help support with the confidential material required to aid in certification

We needing modular certification, in some instances this requires some additional research/effort on our side. For example if it is required to have an ID on the lid of the module for a particular region, this is something we cannot support as it is a change in our manufacturing line.

I am back in the office Monday and can give you a call to further discuss so we are aligned My apologies for the later reply.

    Thanks,
    Riz
  • Hi Tom,

Feel free to e-mail me at Rizwan.murji@ti.com for further discussion. I believe you have already been taking with Mason, but if not we can take this off-line. I will close the thread out here.

    Thanks,

    Riz
  • thx..
I will talk with our COO (Barry Papoff) and get back to you.

  • Hi Rizwan,
    what is your phone number?
you have not responded to our emails...

Since TI pulled back its FAEs and tech support through distribution, and went to online-only support, TI has been very difficult to work with.
Its not the ‘best’ or cheapest IC that makes it onto a PCB, but rather the ‘easiest to design with and best supported’ IC at a reasonable price.
TI has a reputation at present of failing in this regard.

We have the TI WL1801MOD WIFI module in our product, chosen largely because TI is a global entity.
Our clients are global entities in the workforce, residential security, automotive, and automation industries.
Now we need to roll our product out globally and it is extremely difficult to get assistance from a human over the phone.

    Our timeline is running out.
We have FCC, DOC, and CE certification for US, Canada, and the EU.

We are moving now into the following countries, and are working with TUV as our lab, and we need to talk to a knowledgeable, capable, and accessible person at TI, who can work with us quickly.
    Australia, New Zealand
    Mexico
    Colombia
    Argentina
    Peru
    Chile
    Uruguay
    Singapore
    Brazil
    Ecuador
    Mauritius
    Bahamas
    Malaysia
    Dominican Republic

A number of these countries require additional certificates for the module and/or in-country testing.
Can you please advise your phone number so we can discuss our questions and get going?

    thanks,
    Tom
  • Hi Tom,
