Hi,

Background

A customer is operating the WL1801MOD device with PS disabled per a workaround for connectivity with a variety of APs. They were interested in what impact this may have on overall product longevity and lifetime of the WL1801MOD at the new higher power operating mode the device will be in for their product.

Actions Taken

The customer will be performing power analysis before and after disabling PS to determine the overall power impact to their product.

Questions

Are there any data sources on product lifetime for the WL1801MOD device in nominal operation?
- The only reference to lifetime was 2.33 years at VBAT 4.8V and 30% duty cycle mentioned in the recommended operating conditions of the datasheet.
Is a comparison possible between the estimated lifetime for a nominal operation and PS disabled operation?

Hi,

My understanding is that the WL1807MOD previously had Power-On Hours (POH) listed in the datasheet which are no longer present in the current datasheet for either the WL1801MOD or WL1807MOD. Are these previous values still valid?

Hi Mark,

This may require some additional discussion of-line, but do you have any more details on what/how they are doing the PS disabling? Was an updated FW used? Any idea on the impact of the operation of the device?

Hi Riz,

A set of commands was utilized from the WiLink applications team to disable PS mode. This piece is working successfully, the main question they have is in relation to product lifetime/power-on-hours of the device. I will forward an ongoing thread related to the PS disable piece offline as it is somewhat unrelated to datasheet POH values being discussed in the E2E thread.
