CC3120: Leverage CC3120MOD design?

Part Number: CC3120

Hi team,

I'm looking to use CC3120 in an upcoming design. Is there any way to leverage CC3120MOD circuit/layout/etc in order to produced a Certifiable design down the road? Is there any documentation you'd recommend using as I develop this design to make sure everything is in order for Certification?

Thanks,

Brian Angiel

  • Hi Brian,

If you use the CC3120MOD this is already a certified design. The benefit of using the module is that the critical layout of the IC within the module is taken care of. If you then integrate our module within the final design using our integration rules, then you can leverage the certification associated with the module. The Datasheet for the CC3120MOD has some details (www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/cc3120mod.pdf). You can also refer to our Boosterpack design for reference (www.ti.com/.../BOOSTXL-CC3120MOD)

Now if you want to use the CC3120 IC and make is certifiable you can start with our CC3120 IC booster pack (www.ti.com/.../CC3120BOOST) as well as the layout guide for this (www.ti.com/.../swru458.pdf)

For the CC3120 the Boosterpack is our reference design that we have also taken to regulatory certification to show that it passes the requirements. You can download our certification reports for reference from here: www.ti.com/.../siMPLELINK-CC3XXX-CERTIFICATION

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Riz
