CC3235MODS: Is CC3235MODS pin compatible to CC3200MOD?

Part Number: CC3235MODS
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200MOD, , LAUNCHCC3235MOD

Dear Sir,

Our current PCB board works fine with CC3200MOD.  We would like to adopt 5GHz 802.11a capability of CC3235MODS.  Is CC3235MODS pin compatible to CC3200MOD?

Thanks for your time.

Best Regards,

Luke

  • Luke,

Please refer to the following checklists in the order listed:

    1) CC3x20 Design Checklist: www.ti.com/.../swru462
    2) CC3x35 Design Checklist: www.ti.com/.../swru552

The first checklist has a module migration guide (look for the migration tab) from CC3200MOD to CC3220MODx. The second checklist has a migration guide from CC3220MODx to CC3235MODx.

  • Dear Seong,

Thanks for the detail information.  It seems we need to pay more attention on the antenna for 2.4GHz and 5GHz.  Is there any document or guide line for the dual band antenna?

The most important of all, do you have the time line when CC3235MODS could be order for mass production?

    Thank you very much.

    Best Regards,

    Luke

  • Luke,

Currently we only have the LAUNCHCC3235MOD RevE2 as a "guideline" for dual band antenna specs. The chip antenna we have on this EVM is the Ethertronics M830520.

When the CC3x35MOD devices officially release, we will have certificate reports that will list the approved antennas to be used to leverage the module's certifications.

I appreciate your interest in the CC3235MOD, but unfortunately, I am unable to disclose information such as our roadmap.
