CCS/CC3200: Default DNS records on CC3200

Hi!

I would like to know what DNS record format the CC3200 supports. From the documentation swru368b.pdf I read that it supports PTR in Query mode and Bonjour in Advertise mode. I have configured my CC3200 as a HTTP client and not sure about what is meant by the two different modes described in the documentation. Would be nice with an clarification...

Hi Jan,

Query mode refers to when the device is acting as a client and attempting to discover a service. Advertise mode refers to when the device has services registered and is responding to queries.

Hi!

Ok, my http_client is trying to connect to a remote host (server) using the server name. Assuming Query mode for this operation I then assume the DNS description format is PTR as described in the specification. Is that assumption correct?

Hi Jan,

Apologies for the confusion, I was describing the support for mDNS based on the references to the documentation you made in your first post. For DNS, we support type A which is host address.
