CC3220SF: Temporary Flash Space in External SPI Flash

I see that a lot of 'temporary external SPI flash space' is required by the CC3220 that is not available to system or user files. Is there any sort of detailed explanation about what this space is used for and requirements/restrictions around it?

There is some explanation on the external flash usage and sizing in section 8.15.4 of the NWP programmer's guide.

Which specific references to the temporary external SPI flash space are you encountering? This is most likely referring to the temporary space used during the unpacking of the external flash image that is performed at initial boot, although I would need to see the specific context to be sure.
