CCS/CC3200-LAUNCHXL: CC3200 SimpleLink WiFi Provisioning

Part Number: CC3200-LAUNCHXL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200, CC3100

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I have problem to make CC3200 LaunchPad Provisioning work.

Both for the CC3200 SDK and video demo in Ti website:

 1. The CC3200 SDK 1.4.0 example: Provosioning_smartconfig

After I download to the CC3200 Lanuchpad, the UART debug message:

Host Driver Version: 1.0.1.13

Build Version 2.0.7.0.31.0.0.4.1.1.5.3.3

Device is configured in default state

Device started as STATION

I follow the instruction to start:  SimpleLink Wi-Fi Starter Pro app, I type "mySimpleLinkDev" in the Name Your device

and input WiFi newwork and password, then start configuration, but  nothing happen to my mobile phone.

The wlan_station example works works with my WiFi router.

2. The video SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi® CC3100/CC3200 Provisioning Demo in Ti website

 http://www.ti.com/tool/CC3200-LAUNCHXL?keyMatch=CC3200-LAUNCHXL&tisearch=Search-EN-everything&usecase=part-number

This demo doesn't work for my smart phone, what kinds of firmware should be downloaded in the CC3200 Lanuchpad to make this demo work?

Regards

Sam

SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi® CC3100/CC3200 Provisioning Demo

  • Hi Sam,

What type of mobile phone do you have? Do you see any change to the screen when you hit Start Configuration?

The CC3200 software would not affect the app failing or freezing. Please be sure you have the latest SimpleLink Wi-Fi Starter Pro app downloaded: http://www.ti.com/tool/WIFISTARTERPRO

    Best regards,

    Sarah

  • Hi Sarah,

The app is "Build 2.2.257 SC lib 1.0.2" , I believe it is the latest version.

The mobile I'm using is Samsung S6, I try another Samsung S10, it doesn't work as well. My WiFi router is 2.4G/5G.

My CC3200 LanuchPad works for wlan_station and tcp_socket example.

I test another example: provisioning_AP, it doesn't work as well, there is nothing in the "Device To Configure" , both S6 and S10 behave the same.

    Here is the debugger message:

    *************************************************

    CC3200 AP Provisioning Application

I can view "mysimplelink-55AD82" in my mobile WiFi list.

    What's is the problem?

    Regards

    Sam

  • Hi Sam,

If you are using the provisioning_smartconfig example, be sure the SmartConfig setting is enabled in the app. If you are using the provisioning_ap example, you must turn off the SmartConfig setting in the app and connect your mobile phone Wi-Fi to mysimplelink-55AD82.

What do you see on the mobile app when you press the Start Configuration button?

    Best regards,

    Sarah

  • Hi Sarah,

I try again, the result is still the same.

For the provision_smartconfig example, after I input my WiFi router password, press button "START CONFIGURATION", the button change from RED to GREY and nothing happen for provisioning.

Please refer to my attached two screenshots.

    Regards

    Sam

  • Hi Sarah,

Try the provisioning_ap example several times, I do turn off the "Enable Smart Config" button,  my mobile is connected to mysimplelink-55AD82, there is nothing in "Device to Configure" list, when I press the arrow, there is no device in "Select Device to configure".

    please refer attached file.

    Regards

    Sam

  • Hi Samuel,

Try turning off the mobile data on your phone during provisioning. It also looks like you have a Wi-Fi warning on your phone, likely stating that this CC3200 network has no internet connection. If you see a pop-up like the following, be sure to accept it.

If the app continues to not respond, please try a new phone.

    Best regards,

    Sarah

  • Hi Sarah,

    Thanks for your kindly reply.

    For the provisioning_ap example,

    • I turn off mobile data, it still can't find the device in "Device to configure" in the "provisioning" option.
    • I "Forget" my WiFi router, my mobile will connect to CC3200 Launchpad only, it still can't find the device in "Device to configure" in the "provisioning" option.

Every time, I can see "Connected to:  mysimplelink-55AD82".

In the "Settings", I turn ON "Auto device selection", and go to "Provisioning", it will scan for WiFi networks, the result is "There is no Simplelink device around you". That means, my mobile connect to the CC3200 Launchpad, but doesn't recognize it as SimplyLink device.

    Regards

    Samuel

  • Hi Samuel,

Have you tried a new mobile device?

What kind of mobile are you using? What OS? My app is able to find the device and start provisioning.

    Best regards,

    Sarah
