WL1837MOD: Date Code Markings

Part Number: WL1837MOD

How do I decipher the date code marking on these chips? The contract manufacturer of our PCBs has stated that they have installed chips with date code 1811. Looking at the PCBs we have received from them, there are 2 different numbers both containing 1811. Is 1811 the entire date code and all of the chips we have are from the same batch, or is the date code the entire LTC string and we actually have chips from 2 different batches? The markings on the parts are:

LTC: 18116 35

LTC: 18116 45

  • For these Lot codes, the first 4 digits are the manufacturing week, i.e. week 11, 2018 for both above.  The remainder of the number is just for internal tracking and is a module lot code which would be based on some number of units.

  • Thanks Travis. I just want to make sure I fully understand it. In our case, all the chips were made during the same week as part of the same batch (or production run if you want to call it that). The difference in the following numbers (35 vs 45 in this case) would identify that perhaps they were made on different days of the week. Is that correct?

  • All I can really say is that the two LTCs were manufactured the same week, the last three digits are really for internal purposes by our sub con that builds the module.  We are tracking the other thread from Steven L. on this issue and will be replying there shortly.
