Hi,

I am following this guide to connect to Exosite Murano, but I am getting the error "Connection to broker failed error -111". How do I make this work? Anyone from TI familiar with this guide?

Hi Markel,

I've never used their broker before but let's see if we can get this working. The error you're getting is socket related and likely due to TLS handshake failure. I noticed the guide wants you to uncheck use default trusted root catalog in Uniflash but does not tell you to specify one of your own. A certificate catalog is required for our device to verify root certificates. Try checking that and flashing device again.

Hi Jesu,

At the guide mentions a "TI FAE MQTT Demo Walkthrough for Exosite", which I need a exosite email to be able to download it. Also meaning someone at TI knows about this guide and have done it.

Hi Markel,

Do you have an account with Exosite? To use their broker you have to enable MQTT on your account and configure an MQTT device on their portal. More details here.

Hi Jesu,

Yes, I have enabled MQTT. Exosite Support also not able to provide me a good answer, seems they are also not able to make it work according to the guide. I suspect this has something to do with the rootca.der file.

Hi Markel,

Did you ask them if you're using the correct root CA? Also please include a snippet of your mqtt configurations on the app side (e.g. things like server_address, secured port number, Mqtt_Client_secure_files and Mqtt_ClientCtx).

Hi Jesu,

The rootca.der can be downloaded from the guide. Anyway they have not replied to me for several days, means they have not made it to work either. Have you made it to work at your side? Anyway, I will mark this post as answered and just create a new one if there are any updates. For the meanwhile I will use another broker for my project.

Just an update.

I got support from Exosite. The guide does not work with SDK2.40. You need to use the latest SDKv3.30 and service pack. Also the guide needs some minor improvements. I have made a blog for others who want to try Exosite Murano using TI CC3220SF LP.

Thanks for sharing Kel. It's odd it doesn't work with SDK v2.4 considering that is the version the guide was tested for. Regardless, it seems like you have worked issues in the guide with Exosite. Thanks for sharing your own personal guide as well. I'm sure others who have issues with Exosite's guide will appreciate this thread.

Hi Jesu,

I do not know why it did not work with SDK 2.40. Maybe the service pack is not right. But, when they supported me using the SDK 2.40 there was another error.

So, we moved to latest SDK 3.30 and works without problems. But, the guide still lack some details. They will improve the guide.
