WL1805MOD: ANT016008LCD2442MA1 Alternate part suggestion for WL1805MOD module

Part Number: WL1805MOD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1835MOD, WL1837MOD, WL1807MOD

Hi,

We are using WL1805MOD module for one of our design. We have referred EVK schematic and they suggest to use ANT016008LCD2442MA1m part but

as per TDK, ANT016008LCD2442MA1 part is not suggested for new design. Can anyone please suggest alternate part for it and suitable matching circuit.

Regards

Singh

  • Hi,

You can use W3006 from pulse engineering. We used this part in WL1807MOD, WL1835MOD, WL1837MOD etc..

    The following is the link.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your suggestions.

1)should I assume we can use same matching curcuit for W3006 as well as suggested in evk?

2)We will be using metallic enclosure. So do you have any recommendations for that as well other than chip antenna? We will see range performance and then decide which antenna to go with I.e chip antenna or some other suggested antenna. We want to have both options on board.

3)What recommendation are there for matching circuit for both antenna option to be given in design on board?

    Regards

    Singh

  • Hi,

Q1: No, you need to rematch on your unit. Antenna matching must be done on a complete unit (with casing)

Q2: If you use Metallic casing and cover the Antenna with the metallic casing then it will attenuate the Radiative power then you will loose the range. You may need to consider is using Whip Antenna ( which can be place outside the Metallic Enclosure) or you may need to design your casing such a way that it will not encompass the chip antenna. Please refer to the following link for Whip Antennas.

Q3: You can put PI Network as a place holder at the Antenna input for Antenna matching.
