CC3120MOD: CC3120MOD available Country code

Part Number: CC3120MOD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3120, CC3100

Hi team,

Regarding available country code of CC3120MOD, we have 2 questions as below:

1) According to "CC3x20, CC3x35 SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi® and Internet of Things Network Processor Programmer's Guide",

Table 4-7, Country Codes are only showing US, EU, JP, but is it possible to use other regions like Canada (CA) or China (CN)?

2)   Regarding Appendix C of this document, there is regulatory domain tables, does the module operation changes based on different region?

3) Is there any other setting we need to set except country code for each regulations (FCC, JP, ETSI), for example, do we adjust power of output for each regulations?

Best Regards, ny

  • Hi,

All regulations regulatory requirements should meed MOD after proper settings country code. You don't need to set TX power or something like that.

For Canada you should to set US country code, for China set EU (because China is under ETSI regulation).

  • Hello Jan,

    Thanks for your reply.

May I ask why we should set ETSI to China?

According to the Appendix C in SWRU455H file, CN's region is set to FCC.

    Is this a wrong information?

    Thank you.

  • Hi,

CC3120 is a 2.4GHz device only. Thus information about 5GHz bands are not related to them.

In North America are used 2.4GHz channels 1-11 only. In china are used channels 1-13 and this is same as in EU. That means you should set EU country code, in case of CC3120 device is used in China.

BTW ... if you not trust me, here is answer from Kobi (there is no difference between CC3100 and CC3120 in this regard)
