How to get started with ENC28J60

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5529, ENERGIA

Hey there,

I bought the ENC28j60 ethernet module and now I wat to connect it with my server via the MSP430f5529. The only problem is, that I do not really understand the datasheet. Can anyone tell me how to get started? I have already made the complete SPI interface. Thanks for your help

  • Hi Alexander,

ENC28j60 is an Ethernet module from another vendor (Microchip), from this reason you cannot expect exact solution at TI forum. I think better will be ask at Microchip forum. But this thread at Energia forum may to be interesting for you as well.

Btw ... ENC28j60 is a very old solution (only 10BASE-T). Maybe it could be better to start with something more modern. For example TI have very good MCUs with integrated Ethernet PHY. You not find much manufacturer of modern (not obolate) MCUs with Ethernet PHY. MSP432E401 and MSP432E411 are a nice devices.

  • Oh, I am sorry. Thanks for your reply

  • Hi,

Not a problem. Unfortunately at this support forum for TI products, you probably will not be able find anyone experienced with this Microchip product. Especially when you are asking at Wi-Fi forum.
