WL1831MOD: WLink and external processor

Hello,

I'm thinking buying WL1831MOD to build my project. After viewing the datasheet and WLink user's guide. There are 2 SDKs that TI supports, SimpleLink and WLink.

1. Does WL1831MOD support being a group owner that can has 2 connections to P2P clients ? (If the user's guide has mentioned it, please tell where it is)

I ask this question since SimpleLink only supports 1 P2P client when the network processor is in GO role.

2. If WL1831MOD supports being a group owner that is connected to 2 P2P clients, can I use BLE and P2P features concurrently ?

I'm not sure what "external processor" in this page means ?

Does it mean that the processor inside this module can not be configured ?

I can only use another processor and control it via HCI interface ?

Hi,

The Wilink devices don't have an integrated network stack like the SimpleLink Wifi devices. So Wilink is used with a Linux based external processor generally, and the network functions are handled by the linux stack. For example, AM335 device would be a good example.

Yes, BLE and Wifi can be used cocurrently. The device manages the co-existence and control of the RF automatically.

I will have to have someone else chime in about the number of p-2-p connections.
