Problem with WL1271 Power Saving mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1271

Hi ALL,

Has anyone had problems with the Wl1271 working under power saving mode? What is the fix or workaround?

I have seen some very serious problems when the power saving is turned on. First WL1271 will stuck in the sleep state and fails waking up so the AP disconnection due to inactivity for too long. Second issue is that when in power saving mode, the throughput is very low.

Hope someone has seen this problem and got a solution.

Thanks,

TL

  • Hi,

Can you please share some details?

    1. SW version.

    2. Driver version.

    3. Firmware version.

    4. Which platform you are using.

    5. What did you do to enable PS mode.

    Thanks,

    Nisim

  • Hi Nisim,

    Driver Version 6.1.0.1.149

    Firmware Version 6.1.0.1.349

The platform is 3730 running WinCE 6.0

The power saving mode is set during driver loading through ini/registry. I've tested it in various PS mode, auto, short doze, long doze. I've seen from driver log that the firmware stays in PS state and won't wake up.

    Thanks for help!

  • Hi,

Basically we supporting only LINUX OS for this driver version, however I'm not sure I fully understand the problem you're describing.

Can you please send the driver logs?

    Thanks,

    Nisim

  • Hi, Nisim,

It is most likely a firmware issue. I am pretty sure that you have seen the issue since it is listed in your release notes stating that it is fixed in the latest release. But it is not.

The problem is that the firmware does NOT wake up in power saving mode after going into sleep state. This results in the network disconnection frequently. I did post some logs from driver in another thread "WL1271 port". I don't think this has anything to do with the driver running on Linux or other OS. The whole thing works very good without PS enabled.

    TL

  • Hi TL,

I saw your other E2E thread regarding this issue.

We know this issue was solved (in the version you are having), but according to your complains we will run the test here again and inform you with the results

    Thanks,

    Nisim

  • Nisim,

    Thanks and I'm waiting...

  • Hi TL,

I have discussed with the testing guy and saw there are several scenarios which you describe.

Could you please send us what is the scenario you wish to test and what are the expected results?

If you can add the chariot script it can be very helpful.

    Thanks,

    Nisim
