I found a OTA sample application for CC3220SF mcu, i have one doubt. To add OTA capability to the User application , is separate bootloader application is needed.(i.e)Do i need to maintain two software Final user application and bootloader application.

How the switching between new firmware and old firmware happens after downloading the new firmware in to the MCU user flash through OTA.

I also want to know, what is the RAM and Flash consumption of the OTA library.

Hi,

There is no secondary bootloader needed for CC3220SF devices and TI OTA update (this was mandatory at CC3200 devices). Reverting to previous content is done via ROM bootloader and fail-save feature of filesystem. All is documented at OTA description.

Please evaluate OTA example from SDK to get RAM and flash resource requiems.

Can you explain me a bit in detail what do you mean by evaluate OTA example for memory consumption.

I am planning to integrate AWS free rtos SDK in to MCU and i know that AWS SDK comes with its own OTA library. Is it possible to implement OTA update using AWS SDK library rather than using TI library since for my application new software bin will reside in the S3 bucket of AWS.

Hi,

Compile example by yourself and see how much memory will be required (using memory allocation tool in CCS).

Amazon provides own solution for that - see this. But I am not familiar with this solution.
