CC3220MODA: PROGRAMMING CC3220MODASF

Part Number: CC3220MODA
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, CC3220SF

HI,

WE have CC3220S-LAUNHCPAD kit and we baught CC3220MODASF Module(fresh). Now using XDS110 of LAUNHCPAD, how can i flash *.bin file on CC3220MODASF.

Already tried with uniflash, but it gives error of "Operation failed:Timeout reading data"

Thank you.

  • Hi,

Have you flashed the device previously? Can you send a picture of your jumper configurations? Is the XDS110 drivers installed and showing in device manager?

    BR,

    Vince

  • No, I have not flashed this module, previously, My SOP Connections are , SOP0=0, SOP1=1, SOP2=0. XDS110 driver is  installed perfectly, we are using CC3220S-Launchpad and working fine.,XDS110 is detected but, it is not detecing CC3220MODASF Module, All wiring  and power connections are Traced & ok. In almost all possible known methods  to us, we tried but xds110 not connecting with target.

Can we program CC3220MODASF using XDS110 of CC3220 LAUNCHPAD.

  • For using Uniflash, You are going to need UART TX and RX, RST, and GND connected. Can you verify these are connected? The likely culprit is something in the hardware. I will request someone from our HW team follow up with you for a schematic review.

    BR,

    Vince

  • Hi,TI_MODULE.pdf

yes we are using  UART TX and RX, RST, and GND and verified may times, still i am attaching the connections we have done.

SOP Connections are as SOP2=0, SOP1=1,SOP0=0. WE have also tried to detect usign JTAG but still issues remain as it is.

    Thank You

  • Hi,

    Your connection is wrong. UART for programming is at pins 46 (GPIO_01), 47 (GPIO_02) not a 44 (GPIO_00), 46 (GPIO_01).

  • Hi,

Sorry, it was a mistake in schematic, but hardware connections on PCB are ok and verified, any way i am sending you an updated schematic accordingly.

    Thank You

  • Hi Khodidas,

What does mean this statement "hardware connections on PCB are ok and verified" ? Do you have verified proper solder joins at x-ray and examined UART lines at logical analyser. If not, I don't think that this statement is can correct.

    • Please provide hi-res photo of connection your hardware to LaunchPad.I want to check you connection an jumpers configuration at LaunchPad.
    • Please make sure that your UART lines (RX, TX) are not exahnges
    • Please do your test with Uniflash with SOP mode (2-1-0: 1-0-0), because at this mode is bootloader state not affected by RX line level

  • Hi,

We checked everything and found OK, but surprisingly, it starts working, we are able to load binary now. but still facing issue with Debug using JTAG connections.  in  Project properties, variant is CC3220SF and Connection is XDS110 USB Debug Probe, on Verifying it gives error -233

    and debug Error is-2131

  • Hi,

In case you are not able to use 4-wire JTAG with SOP mode 0-1-0 when device is in development mode (set by Uniflash and JTAG at CCS target configration) it looks a hardware issue.

    • I suppose that your module is not properly soldered (not properly melted paste under module). Because such issue can explain why your Uniflash connection started working without any reason.
    • You should check is your JTAG wires are not too long with good contacts.

Debugging of JTAG connectivity issues is described here.

  • HI, Finally all thing start working ok,

For JTAG it was issue may be due to loosen Jumper wire,After checking all connectivity and connecting device  with CCS in Debug Mode, it works.

    Thank you  for support

    Regards
