CC3120: Is the service pack of CC3120 backward compatible?

Hi TI,

For investigation or testing purpose, I want to program the CC3120 with latest service pack image (3.16.0.0_2.0.0.0_2.2.0.7). But our host drive is quite old (2.0.1.15). Will it work? What is the downside?

Because it will take some time and effort for us to update the host driver (we are not using MSP430 MCU). So before we see some good results of using latest service pack, we do not want to touch the firmware of the host driver.
