WL1807MOD: Country regulations for module as client device

Part Number: WL1807MOD

Hi all,

my customer is adopting WL1807MOD as client, and looking to expand to countries where the usage for 5GHz bandwidth is limited.

Should the customer take any action, even if using only as client? Below is the customer question:

We are evaluating to sell our product in some countries where the 5GHz radio band have some limitations. Our software don’t manage differencies based on country product installation. Can you help us in order to understand if these rules are mandatory also for client devices or are intended only for Access points?

  • Hi,

From a regional compliance point of view, every region has it's own regulatory requirements regardless of the mode of operation. Thus you will need to ensure that you are meeting those specific country requirements. The reason for this is even in Client mode you may not be dictating which frequency to use, but since you will be communicating with the AP (both TX and RX) you need to meet the regulatory requirements.

Its best to work with your test house to understand the requirements and what is needed. You can refer to our certification page for our reports and regions we support as well as support that we offer.

    Thanks,

    Riz
