WL1837MOD: Continuous Mode - 100% DC for compliance

Hi there,

Has anything changed in the WL1837MOD firmware or operation which will allow us to transmit 802.11b/g/n at 100% duty cycle?

This is a non-standard implementation of the WL1837MOD which uses an external self-switching amplifier to boost signal levels. In order to troubleshoot spurious effectively, we can't simply just use a duty cycle correction factor.

I am hoping there is a way to do this via the WL1837MOD.

Hello Gordon,

Nothing has changed in the FW that will enable a 100% duty cycle.

Please note that if you implement an external amplifier, you will be unable to use the WL1837MOD certification by filing a permissive change.

Hi Seong,

100% understood on the permissive change - it will trigger a full compliance effort. This is not a problem.

Is there any way at all we can create a 100% duty cycle?
It seems to be a popular request looking around these forums. It would be a useful mode, especially when implementing external amplifiers for long-range WiFi.
