CC3200MOD: Software Power down (not wake up)

Hi Folks,

I have a battery operated device and I want the ability to power it down (put in deepest sleep mode) if the battery gets too low. I don't need (or want) any interrupts to bring it out of sleep, (I want the user to have to the cycle power to the device.)

Any suggestions on the command to use? (I know there are a few, but they have the option to wakeup on external inputs.)

Hi Bob,

if you call sl_Stop(), this will raise our nReset pin putting it into hibernate mode (4-5uA). Additionally, you can raise nHIB which will further reduce the current to around 1 uA at the expense of start up time.

That is an interesting thought. My application only runs sl_Start() when I'm doing firmware over the air updates. (My system uses Cellular and the UART interface and not WiFi.)

So are you suggesting I do sl_Start() followed by sl_Stop(), or just call sl_Stop without ever calling sl_Start? (I do remember that if I called sl_Stop without having called sl_Start it did seem to hang.)

Hi Bob,

If you haven't called Sl_Start() the device should be in the low power mode. After you call sl_Start() is when the device "Wakes up". Once you are done with Wi-Fi operations, you can call sl_Stop() to return the device into the low power state.
