changing BasicRate

I used 802.11b mode.
I changed the BasicRate with registry key "dot11BasicRateMaskB".
Then, I was able to confirm BasicRate in ProbeRequest had changed.

But, when connecting with AP, the BasicRate in  AssociationRequest
is  different from the value that I specified in the registry key.
It is the same value of AP's BasicRate in BEACON/ProbeResponse.

Is not the value of registry key "dot11BasicRateMaskB"  reflected in AssociationRequest?

  • Hi Feb,

The BSS basic rate set information in beacon and probe response is to inform stations to avoid associating with the BSS if the station cannot receive and transmit the data rates in the BSS basic rate set.

Can you please provide more details about your set up and what you see exactly (supported rates, BSS basic rate, rate at which associationrequest is transmitted) while associating with the AP?

    Thanks,

    Sinoj

  • Hi Sinoj,

    Thank you for your response.

    I set 1Mbps and 2Mbps to BasicRate. AP's Basic Rate is 1Mbps, 2Mbps,
    5.5Mbps and 11Mbps.
The SupportedRate of AP and STA is 1Mbps, 2Mbps, 5.5Mbps and 11Mbps.

I think that the BasicRate in AssocReq is selected from STA's BasicRate AND
    AP's BasicRate.
So I think that the BasicRate in AssocRequest is 1Mbps and 2Mbps.
However the BasicRate in AssocRequest is 1Mbps, 2Mbps, 5.5Mbps and 11Mbps.

Is it right that the BasicRate in AssocRequest equal to AP's BasicRate?

    Best regards,

  • Hi Feb,

Can you please provide us the details of the hardware and software platform that you are using?
