Hi,
We'd like to use the wake-on-WLAN feature for the WL1837MOD. How de we estimate the power consumption o the module while in sleep mode but with WoW enabled?
Thanks

I received an answer internally and will share it here...
We don’t have power numbers for WoWLAN mode. The reason is that it is dependent on the air traffic, filters set etc .
With WoWLAN enabled , WiLink8 SoC still wakes up to receive packets and current consumption is dependent upon how many packets it receives, DTIM set by AP etc. If the packet gets filtered by the firmware, WiLink8 won’t assert interrupt to the Host hence saving lot of power.
And of course how many packets get filtered by WiLink8 depends upon the filter set by the user
WoWLAN will definitely lead to lower current/power consumption if WiLink8 ends up filtering packets that would have otherwise made it to the host . If Host is in low power mode , it may continue to do so . But it’s difficult to ascertain exact number since it is very use case dependent .
Power saving is not much on WiLink8 side since it is still receiving/transmitting packets. It’s mostly on the Host side since it doesn’t have to wake up for filtered packets .
WiLink8 typical current numbers
Typical VBAT is 3.7V.
