LAUNCHXL-CC3235SF: Local OTA: Is there a place I can point the OTA code to a file the user has uploaded (i.e., bypass state machine)?

Approach with uploading whole TAR file into sFlash and after that processing OTA code will probably not work. Because you can expect issue with insufficient space inside sFlash. Usage of ota_archive.h/c files on the fly without whole TI state machine works pretty well. I use this local OTA code with my own http server (server at application processor not NWP). I still need to use state machine, but it is my own and it is much simpler than in TI local OTA example.

As web frontend I use code which reads file via FileReader() javacript object and content of this file send back into CC3220 by 10kB chunks via XMLHttpRequest().

What you need to do:

1. Include into your code TI code ota_archive.c/h, ota_json.c/h and include json parser library ti/utils/json/lib/ccs/m4/json_release.a
2. Create global instance of OTA structure inside your code (e.g. OtaArchive_t otaArchive;)
   
3. When OTA procedure is stated you need to call OtaArchive_Init(&otaArchive);
4. Inside web hander you need to call OtaArchive_Process() repeatedly for processing incoming data. This could look like this:

5. After startup of code you need to commit new OTA code via:

6. Be aware that all files inside OTA TAR (and initial image) needs to be created with fail safe-flag to be rollback feature functional.

Steps above are procedure which you need to do inside local OTA code. Full implementation into your code is up to you. In case of any question feel free to ask. But do not expect that I will wrote full implementation for you.
