CC3220MODA: CC3220MODAS connections

Part Number: CC3220MODA

HI TI!

I am developing an application with the CC3220MODAS, the application must receive data via UART and send it via WIFI. Please, I would like to make sure that everything is ok and I am not missing some detail.

For the UART interface I have configured these pins: 42-UARTTX, 47-UARTRX, 51-UARTCTS, 52-UARTRTS.

At this point I have the following doubt:
How the chip (CC3220MODAS) knows that these pins are configured for UART functionality?
Do I have to do something to make the chip (CC3220MODAS) configure these pins with the respective UART functionality?

I have connected the pins VBAT_RESET to the 3.3V power supply and nRESET to the 3.3V power supply through a resistor pull up.
With these connections the module will be active and working?

The ANT_SEL1 and ANT_SEL2 pins are not connected.
With these connections will the wireless communication work?
Please could you explain me the functionality of the ANT_SEL1 and ANT_SEL2 pins?

I also have the RF_BG pin not connected.

I also have JTAG and SPi FLASH interface access connectors.

Please everything is ok, am I forgetting something?
Attached is an image with the wiring diagram of the connections.

Sincerely thank you very much!

Best Regards

  • Hi albgarc2014,

Please use the Design Checklist to ensure that your CC3220MODA's engine area is configured properly. When you open the excel spreadsheet, click on the "CC3220MODx & CC3220MODAx" tab at the bottom. Then go down the checklist to make sure each pin is configured correctly. I also recommend you review our reference design as well. As you go down the checklist, you will note that pins 46 and 47 are used for UART flashing.

Do you require two UART interfaces to communicate with two other devices?

The chip will know which pins are used for UART by software.

ANT_SEL1 and ANT_SEL2 are pins that can be used to control an RF switch for antenna selection. Other use is not recommended.

After reviewing the reference design and checklist, you can request a design review here.
