Hello all,

I am using cc2650 5x5 end device with z-stack 1.2.2a sample switch example.

I have enabled " HOLD_AUTO_START". so the device will not start network discovery until unless i trigger intentionally.

But in this case ideally device should remain in sleep mode and consume very less power like few uAmp.

But in My case after some time of power On the end device stuck and continuously consume 5-6 mAmp current.

If your device joins any Zigbee network, what is the current consumption when device is under sleeping?

If it joins the zigbee network , then there is no ..problem ...it work fine ... but Problem is only when it is fresh programmed and not part of any network , just powered ON

Check if you application has any task keeps CPU busy and won't go back to sleep when you enable " HOLD_AUTO_START"

Try to do debug from IAR and pause the application to see where the application is running.

There is a call stack view in IAR IDE. You can use it to check call Stack when you pause application.

Do you change anything on Z-Stack? I suspect you revise something and cause this issue.

If you test SampleSwitch on CC2650DK, do you see similar issue?

I was testing with cc2650dk and sampleswitch without any modification in application as well as core , i have started the execution and after some time i stopped paused execution by " break " icon in IAR , then i again resumed execution by "GO " icon ...after this this was also consuming high current , and when stopped again and saw that , this is also stuck at same point ---"halAssertHandler"

I have tested twice , cc2650dk with sampleswitch application without any modification , If it is not in the network it will stuck after approx 40 minutes.

A similar issue investigation a year ago revealed that the TI-RTOS version that comes with z-stack 1.2.2a (2_11_01_09) causes the MB_SendCommand assert issue with HOLD_AUTO_START set. Upgrading to 2_14_01_20 or above fixed the issue but this is not a straightforward solution and little documentation exists for this procedure.

You mentioned earlier also ....that ...upgrading ti rtos is not straight forward solution.......in that case I request you to provide some guide ...... otherwise this is like incomplete information.
This is a serious Issue for us.

Ryan Brown1 Do you mean this assert issue only happens to MB_SendCommand when HOLD_AUTO_START is defined? If so, not defining HOLD_AUTO_START won’t have the issue right?

Dhanraj, I've explained the source of your issue and a means for solving it but TI no longer updates this source. Please follow the instructions from the TI-RTOS Support Wiki page: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../TI-RTOS_Support

YiKai, you are correct in assuming that the issue centers around HOLD_AUTO_START.

Edit: The suggested solution is to either not enable HOLD_AUTO_START or evaluate a different device/stack, such as a CC253x or CC2x52R with Z-Stack 3.x
