getting started with smart rf and the generic app

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2530EM

Hello everybody,

I am getting started with the smartrf boards and zstack, so I am sorry for stupid questions if any. Well, I have two evaluation modules CC2530EM and I would like to get ready to write my first firmware. The generic app seems to be the correct demo to start with, but I am quiet confused because I did not understand how to set a device as end_device, router devise or coordinator_device. At startup, the device starts as coordinator with a random PAN ID and it starts sending the "hello world"  every 5 seconds (I can see by the packet sniffer and the dongle). I would like to join the other device as a router or end device in the same network. I think it is something simple, but at the beginning everything seems complicated :). Thank you for the help.

Gianpaolo.

P.S.: it looks like that the binding process by key press does not work. At start up I always get on the display "zigbee coord network ID:..."

  • I think there is no problem in your coordinator now. You need to build EndDeviceEB FW in GenericApp project and flash it into your another CC2530EM. Then, you can turn on it and see it joins your coordinator. For binding, you can push the joystick on both SmartRF05EB of coordinator and end device, which will send end device binding request from both sides.

  • To configure the generic app FW as EndDeviceEB or Router, please refer to the following picture.
