CC2652R7: CC2652R7: TI Thread stack known limitation

This is for TI new SDK : simplelink_cc13xx_cc26xx_sdk_5_30_01_01

Looking for the known limitation of the TI thread stack in evaluation phase of the project. I had try to describe my question with some example, of course you will provide your input on it, but you can provide other input as well if you know any other known limitation.

Ex,

1) In Mesh network, feasible number of hops communication work?

2) Theoretically number of possible router is 32 in the network, but practically how much we had tested?

3) How many device can be part of single mesh network?

The spec mentions max number of hops as 255. In a single mesh network, there are max of 32 routers, so likely the practical max hops would be 32.

We have this set as the max number of routers (see OPENTHREAD_CONFIG_MAX_ROUTERS 32). 32 routers should work fine in an actual network.

Since current Thread examples are based on OpenThread, I would suggest you to read https://openthread.io/guides/thread-primer/node-roles-and-types and https://openthread.io/guides/thread-primer/router-selection which could give you more details about router node information in Thread protocol.

I have another question, In the above red highlighted text, you are talking about max child capacity practically possible ? As per my understanding minimum child capacity should be 1.

Apart from the above communication, Do we have list of known TI Thread stack limitation?

A router must be able to support 10 children (for certification).

A router with kMaxChildren == 10 means that it's "max child capacity" is 10 -- this will fulfill the above statement "A router must be able to support 10 children".

TI uses openthread. Thus, any Thread-related limitations are the same as limitations in openthread -- you may need to be more specific in which limitations you are interested in.

Other than this, there could be resource limitations (e.g. maybe RAM/Flash numbers will not allow a router configuration for the theoretical maximum child capacity of 511).
The configurations provided in the TI SDK should work as-is for typical Thread networks for a given TI device.
