InClusterList & OutClusterList match while binding

Hello all,

During binding between two endpoints (one client and one server device), how are the InClusterList and OutClusterList on two endpoints compared ? I mean tghe clusters on which cluster list on the client is matched to which cluster list on the server.

Here, a client can be thought of as a ON/OFF Switch & a server could be a ON/OFF light.

Incluster is for server side and outcluster is for client side.

When a binding is done between two EPs on two devices(say a switch and a light), the clusterid on InClusterList on the switch is matched with OutClusterList on the light, and if it matches, a binding entry is created in binding table of the switch.

Am I right??

If you are asking about bdb finding and binding, that’s correct.

And what if a use ZDO_BIND_REQ from Z-Tool to create a binding

It will only check the binding request matches incluster or out cluster.

you mean it will not create an actual binding between the two endpoints(suppose that I'm using the Z-Tool on my coordinator and I want to make a bind between the switch and the light by sending commands from the coordinator)?

if you send binding request from light to switch, the binding information would only be kept on switch device. So, the switch knows where to send on/off/toggle commands after binding.

Hello Siddharth,

You can review the zcl_samplesw_data.c and zcl_samplelight_data.c for examples on how the in/out cluster list compares between device roles. ZDO_BIND_REQ does create the bind on the targeted node for which it can then send ZCL messages using indirect addressing. Please review the Zigbee Fundamental Project Development SLA and Z-Stack Overview section of the Z-Stack User's Guide.
