CC2530: NLME_PermitJoiningRequest on Router

Part Number: CC2530
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: Z-STACK

Hello,

I'm using ZStack 3.0.2, and I'm already using NLME_PermitJoiningRequest(0xFF) on coordinator to allow new routers to associate with. But, I'm wondering if I need to call NLME_PermitJoiningRequest(0xFF) on routers, in case where I  need to connect a new router, and the coordinator is not on visible range of this router.

ZC -> ZR -> ZR -> ZR -> New ZR -> which cannot see the Cooridnator and must associate.

Does SECURE = 1 appleis a role on this?

  • If you use NLME_PermitJoiningRequest, yes, you should call it in both coordinator and routers. And the max period can only be 0xFE in Z-Stack 3.0.2 according to Zigbee 3.0 specification. And SECURE=1 applies. By the way, it’s easier to use ZDP_MgmtPermitJoinReq instead of NLME_PermitJoiningRequest to broadcast enable permit join to all routers
