Connectivity problem after changing ZigBee channel

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2530

Ok so here is our setup.  We are testing both on CC2530 development kits and the hardware we designed for our school project.  We got our hardware working in lab, but when we take it to where its going to be used (dorms), it fails to connect.  We tested the signal strength on the channel we were using, and found lots of noise, so I changed the channel in f8wConfig.cfg to a different channel that had less noise, and then nothing would work.  We even tried bringing the system back to lab where we know there isn't interference, and it still won't connect.  It even wouldn't connect when I load the software back on to the development kits.  However, if I push and hold the joy stick down to bypass NV memory when it starts up, then the boards connect just fine.  Is there something about bypassing the NV memory when I change the channel configuration?  This isn't possible on the hardware we have, so is there some other way of changing the channel and not having to bypass NV memory on startup?  Has anyone else experienced this or can offer some insight??

Thank you very much in advance for ANY advice you can offer!!

  • Hi Matt,

This makes perfect sense.  NV Restore brings the radio back to the same state.  Network address, channel, parent device etc.  This indeed explains what you see.

I am not sure if there is any workaround if you wish to use NV Restore/Items.

    Cheers,
    Lisa
