Question about CC2430

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2530, TIMAC

Hi there,

My customer who is looking at using a CC2530 to do a network to communicate Handheld devices to a controller attached to a PC in a resturant.

Basically this is only a check presenter which will transmit and recieve bills to and fro from the controller.

1) How much memory is needed in the CC2530 for i) handheld devices ii) router for big resturant iii) the controller attached to the PC.

2) what type of equipment and environment is needed for testing during manufacturing stages.

3) Can CC2530 do firmware upgrade off the air?

Thank you!

Adam

  • Hi Adam,

    1) Are you looking to implement this using ZigBee mesh technology or just the TIMAC for star network? This will dictate the flash requirements to a large extent. If you want to do it with ZigBee, you should go for the CC2530F256 in all nodes. CC2531F256 w/USB for the connection to the PC.

    2) For production testing, you should test that the CC2530 was soldered properly on using a functional test that includes radio use. Will you have an antenna connector on the board?

    3) Yes, that functionality is offered with the ZigBee stack. Please note that you need storage for the image you have downloaded on the PCB.

  • Hi Peder,

    Thank you for the reply.

My customer will be using Zigbee mash network. I would be advising them to use the 256Mb version and look for a cost down if their code size can be lower.

As for question 2, they will be drawing their own Inverted-F antenna to save cost on board. Do you have a testing procedure for use in manufacturing? or what type of equipments are needed to test as my customer do not have this type of experience.

    Thank you!
